Veriforce PEC Pipeline Basic Orientation

Veriforce created its Basic Pipeline Orientation training to help increase safety awareness of workers exposed to the unique hazards in the oil and gas industry’s midstream. The course meets the SafeLandUSA and Gold Shovel Standard criteria. Students will learn about hazards they may encounter in the pipeline industry and will become familiar with the controls that mitigate those hazards.
Some midstream operators require contractor-workers to complete Basic Pipeline Orientation to increase workers safety awareness and compliance. This course focuses on worker safety in the midstream/pipeline segment of the oil & gas industry and earns the worker the SafeLandUSA credential.
The course introduces workers to International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) Life-Saving Rules: activities most likely to expose industry workers to hazards that lead to serious injuries and fatalities. The Life-Saving Rules identify actions workers can take to protect themselves and their colleagues when exposed to commonly-recognized hazards.
Students must successfully complete digital exams to verify awareness-level understanding of the course content before earning the SafeLand and Gold Shovel credentials.
Upon completion of Veriforce Pipeline Basic Orientation students will have general knowledge of regulatory standards from OSHA, DOT’s Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Homeland Security.

Students receive a completion certificate and a Veriforce ID card which lists the student’s completed Veriforce courses. Employers may verify student training on the Veriforce ID Card or online at PECCard.com.
The Basic Pipeline Orientation has no prerequisites, nor does it require any hands-on skills demonstrations. Operators and Veriforce recommend contractor-workers take the course annually.
Omega Safety Training, Inc. (OSTI) conducts this instructor-led general awareness-level course privately: virtually or in-person at your location (5-student minimum required, may include additional costs).
